A haunting visual poem inspired by the ancient Japanese art of repair, set in a sprawling scrap yard.
Director’s Statement
“Kintsugi Angel is a film born from the urgent need to 'repair.' It is the result of a years-long collaboration between myself and multi-media artist Erika Senft Miller. When I first saw Erika's provocative costume art, I felt that it communicated a timeless human sensation; feeling like an alien in our own broken world. This inspired me to write a loose script that creates a science fiction atmosphere. Our creative journey lead us to stage a performance using her costume. When it came time to craft the film, I was inspired by the practice of Kinstugi, the Japanese art of repair, which is used to fix broken pottery.”
